Goodwyne - CO#2
Class: Speaking with Dr. Rios
May 3, 2022 1:00 p.m.
Discussion on Timed Speaking using one simple topic or statement.
Each student had 45 seconds to speak utilizing the following format:
1- state your name
2- state the topic (example- Dogs are better than cats)
3- offer two reasons, with an example on whether you agree or disagree with the statement.
4- state the conclusion
I think this was a effective way to encourage use of thinking and speaking skills.
Each student was able to complete the assignment. Often the vocabulary wasn't exactly correct or the teacher had difficulty determining what the student said.
One student wanted to state the dogs are not loners and cats are. That did not come across but was brought out in the conversation.
Good insight here and great project to let the student have a small audience without feeling overwhelmed. It was just difficult enough.
